The Governor’s School for the Arts is a center for innovation that develops excellence, nurtures creativity, inspires artistic vision and builds communities with a passion for the arts.
Each department at GSA is tailored to meet the demanding needs of each art form. The unique nature of the School provides a variety of arts experiences in both traditional and non-traditional environments. Over 50 productions and exhibitions are presented yearly. The performance and exhibition experience is conducted in a professional atmosphere where students learn the real-life workings of on-stage, backstage, and gallery life.
GSA is in the process of expanding our school so that more students will be able to attend and so that we have more space in which to train and study. With this expansion we will finally have an orchestra rehearsal room equipped with correct flooring and sound abatement. The missing piece is a performance piano.
Our students in our various performing arts classes deserve an instrument of the Steinway quality that will elevate their achievement. The Steinway will benefit all of our piano students, vocal music students, singers, as well as our faculty, and demonstrate our school’s commitment to excellence and an unparalleled educational experience.
This magnificent 6′ 11″ (211 cm) grand piano is often referred to by pianists as “the perfect piano.” It is a wonderfully balanced and versatile instrument that does extremely well in teaching studios and mid-sized venues.

We are hoping that our community’s continuing generosity will cover the purchase price of the piano. Any funds raised above the purchase price would be used for tunings and maintenance of the piano throughout the school year. Additional costs will be covered through the GSA operating budget.
